Night Search Training
It was good to get out again so quickly to follow up on the daytime search skills training on Saturday with a session on Searching at Night. Once again we were back in the private woodland, well out of the way of the public and working with our own team (Northumberland National Park Mountain Rescue Team). The training covered the reasons night search skills are an essential part of the toolkit for any rescue personnel, exploring how our senses work and how we can maximise them to make us more effective and efficient and considering appropriate lighting and methods of search. This culminated in a practical session with team members searching several routes for clues and evidence that a missing person may have passed that way. Much better weather tonight and a very enthusiastic and receptive bunch from NNPMRT.
