Misper-UK - World First Upgrade

We are really pleased to announce an upgrade to our Misper-UK web based app. On the 3rd June we switched over to a new version of Misper-UK and, in what we believe to be a world first, this is now linked directly to the Mountain Rescue England and Wales (MREW) incidents database and updates the statistics on a daily basis.  This builds on our 25 year collaboration with MREW on Missing Persons Behaviour Statistics and gives search planners and managers access to completely up to date missing persons data to help inform their search planning. We think that this dynamic access to contemporary statistics makes Misper-UK unique, all other studies being static and fixed at the date of their publication.

Misper-UK is now a Progressive Web App (PWA), allowing off line use and updating any time it has a connection to the internet.

As part of the upgrade we've also included a mapping function to display distance statistics showing how far a missing person may have travelled from the Initial Planning Point (IPP).

This has been fully funded by TCSR and made available to users free of charge.

A big thank you goes to Rob Shepherd, former MREW Statistics Officer, for all his work in amalgamating historical records from his predecessor, Ged Feeney's, database into the new data set. This has ensured a complete and accurate record is available to inform the statistics.

Thanks also to Tim Mather and all at wearetheworks.com for their expertise and their work in developing the app.
